(This post is just my personal oppinion, does not make anything that I say correct. It's just an oppinion)
Today I was reading the news about the Russians who have all closed themselves off in a cave to wait until the end of the world. On AoL news you have the option to post a response to the story. Well one person posted that God was fake and all made up like a folk tale.
Well I just wanted to comment here on that because I trust you guys to hear me out without saying I am stupid. Or at least hear me out before you say I am stupid. (wink)
If you do not believe in God what is the point in spreading the word or trying to discourage others from believing? The idea of God includes: Morals, Love, Peace, Understand, Patience... and the list goes on. They all express positive virtues.
People complain about how everyone is out killing and being dicks... well they do it because they have no morals.
I can understand Stoicism however. I sometimes wish I had the perfect freedom. I would still have the morals that I have with God but do I really want to take that chance and who am I hurting by not? If I am happy where I am? I would rather believe and live my life for God and my kids rather than wait till the lights go out on everyone and find out... there really was one and I screwed the pooch because I was too proud.
God teaches others to do to others as they would have done to themselves. Besides I think that Atheists who do care about others will be looking to those Christians when the "shit" hits the fan.
Wether you want to believe that it will be the apocolyps or just the world doing its thing... its going to sooner or later.... And your world will end "as you know it". All of it will.
I go to sleep at night and think of these things and I pray. I am not too proud to say that I pray every night and I cry. I do not cry because I am weak... I cry because I care a lot. I do not always cry for myself. I might even be crying for you.
I am not trying to be too serious and scare eveyone away, just feeling bad right now after reading that post. It does not make sense to me..
